Life Jacket Self-Inflator

KSI

Falling into water can be dangerous, even in quite a shallow Pool or River. When riding on or in a Boat, it is now commonplace to wear a Lifejacket. But few Fishermen think of the danger Inherent in standing in a River. But in any of these aquatic activities, a conventional Life Jacket is bulky, and restrictive to movement, especially in attempting to cast a Fly!

The KSI Lifejacket Self Inflator in designed to overcome the difficulties which derive from conventional Life Jacket bulkiness.

An uninflated Life Jacket adds very little to the bulk of the wearer's outer clothing, and, therefore, causes very little restriction to bodily movement.

There are Life Jacket Self Inflators available, which employ some form of soluble material, which when immersed, will dissolve to release a spring loaded Striker Pin, which pierces the seal of a Carbon Di-Oxide cylinder, to inflate the Jacket. The disadvantage of the soluble solution is that they can, and often do, dissolve in humid atmospheres, like the boot of a car full of damp clothing, or even in highly humid atmospheres. Inadvertent inflation can be dangerous.

The KSI Life Jacket Self Inflator relies on a pneumatic system, which is triggered only upon immersion in 4'' or more, in water. There are no replaceable items such as batteries, or chemicals. After firing, the Unit can be pumped up with a tyre inflation pump, reset, and the Sparklet cylinder replaced, and the system is ready to go again.
